Editorial policy

Loreus publishes calm, practical, and clearly bounded information for adult readers. The desk covers movement, daily rhythm, food, rest, community, and the long horizon of wellbeing. We value context over spectacle and usefulness over volume. This policy explains how stories are selected, written, reviewed, corrected, and separated from commercial influence. It applies to staff writing, commissioned work, contributor material, illustrations, captions, newsletters, and updates to previously published pages. A reader should be able to distinguish an editorial judgement from a sourced statement and a commercial message from both. The policy is used as a working reference during commissioning and as a standard for resolving questions after publication. It does not prevent revision; it requires that revision be explainable and consistent with the record.

1. Mission

Our mission is to help readers think more clearly about the physical life they are already living. We do not frame wellbeing as a contest or a moral ranking. Articles should leave room for culture, age, disability, work, family, and changing circumstances. A good story can be useful without being absolute.

2. Selection

Ideas are selected for reader relevance, public interest, and the possibility of explaining them responsibly. We avoid topics that require personal assessment to be safe or accurate. A pitch must identify its scope, likely sources, reader benefit, and important limitations. The editor may decline a subject even when it is popular.

3. Research

Writers use appropriate public sources, experienced perspectives, and clearly identified observation. Sources are checked for date, authority, and relevance rather than cited as decoration. We distinguish an established finding from a plausible interpretation or personal story. Uncertainty is included when it changes how a reader should understand the material.

4. Review

Published guides are reviewed for clarity, structure, tone, and claims. A second reader checks that examples do not accidentally become promises. Where specialist review is needed, it is identified honestly rather than implied. Review does not eliminate every error, so we keep a correction route open.

5. Reader stories

Reader correspondence may inspire themes, but we do not publish private details without permission. Names and identifying circumstances are changed or omitted when appropriate. Personal experience is labelled as experience, not treated as universal evidence. Readers may ask us to remove a submitted story before publication.

6. Corrections

Material errors are corrected promptly when identified. The desk may add a dated note when a change affects meaning or reader interpretation. Minor grammar changes may not receive a public note. Send a correction with the page title, statement, source, and explanation through contact.php.

7. Conflicts

Writers disclose relevant commercial, personal, or organisational relationships to the editor. A conflict does not always prevent publication, but it may require a note, a second review, or a different writer. Hidden promotion is not acceptable. The editor decides whether a relationship affects trust.

8. Commercial separation

Sponsored material is labelled and kept separate from independent editorial judgement. Advertisers cannot purchase a favourable article, remove a qualification, or suppress a correction. Commercial and editorial records are maintained separately. See advertising.php for the full standard.

9. Language

We avoid fear, shame, inflated certainty, and unnecessary jargon. We write in US English and aim for direct, respectful sentences. Images and examples should represent adult readers without reducing them to appearance. We review headings especially carefully because they can change the meaning of a full article.

10. Accountability

This policy was reviewed on 13 October 2026 and is owned by the Loreus editorial desk. Questions and complaints can be sent to Jl. Thamrin No. 8, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Jakarta 10310, Indonesia, or +62 21 6815 3047. We aim to acknowledge editorial complaints within 15 working days. The policy will be revisited in 2027 or sooner when circumstances change.

Editorial decisions are documented sufficiently for a later editor to understand the source, scope, and limitation of a published claim. A correction or complaint is acknowledged within 5 business days where contact details allow, and the desk aims to complete a substantive review within 20 business days. Source correspondence is normally retained for up to 24 months after publication or resolution, then deleted or anonymised unless a continuing legal or editorial reason requires preservation. The policy was reviewed on 13 October 2026, and later material changes will be dated when approved.

Questions may be sent to Jl. Thamrin No. 8, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Jakarta 10310, Indonesia, or by phone at +62 21 6815 3047. A request should identify the page, the concern, and any source that can be checked without sharing unnecessary personal information. Commercial relationships, affiliate references, and sponsored material are reviewed separately from editorial judgement and labelled in a way that a reader can understand. If a contributor has a relevant personal or financial interest, the editor records that context and may seek an additional review.
